Chimpanzees Fate

Should retired chimpanzees from laboratory testing still be tested on? many people may disagree with this due to the statement, "We should be able to do with chimps, what we do with humans."

The National Institution of Health has called unofficially retired chimpanzees back to the lab for further research by the end of 2011. Best know Primatologist states "most of these chimpanzees are older and have already been subjected to years of invasive research.. Would it make more sense to leave these chimpanzees in permanent sanctuary at the Alamogordo facility?" many people would agree with her because these primates have been subjected to Hepatitis C and the HIV virus. Don't you think they have been through enough? In Keithville, Louisiana there is a facility based on retired chimpanzees interacting with others in their own habitat, there are about 100 chimpanzees resining there, this place is called Chimp Haven. The contract for Chimp Haven expires 2012 and there has been no talk on extending that time. Moving the chimps to Southwest national primate research center in San Antonio Texas would save them 2 million dollars says Harold Watson. The chimps would join 150 other primates in that facility, the facility is similar to chimp haven but testing will occur. The testing would involve blood samples, and liver samples.

In my opinion chimps should not be tested on. clearly as Ajit Varki says "we should be able to do with chimps, what we do with humans." i agree with this because its a know fact chimpanzees share a lot of the same qualities as human beings do. They also have feelings and I'ts wrong to use them as test subjects to HIV and Hepatitis C.

Organ Donation

Many people have different opinions on weather a convicted felon is worthy of a transplant or not. Stanford Medical Center obviously agrees with transplants to felons.

On January third a convicted felon was given a heart transplant that cost almost one million dollars. Many people would disagree with Standford medical center seeing that many law-abiding citizens are waiting for a heart transplant and it was given to a felon. On the other hand people may say that convicted felons are human beings and have rights of their own, denying them medical care would be cruel and injustice. The felon was convicted of robbery twice, implying that at least the threat of injury or death to its victims if they don't comply with the robber's demands.

I personally think that there are many ways to look at the crime that the convicted felon committed. Maybe he was stealing to help loved ones? or maybe for selfish reasons. I don't think anyone can know for sure but that still shouldn't keep him from his rights for medical care, he obviously needed the transplant and it was successful. perhaps he was the only person that could take the heart at the time and his criminal record shouldn't get in the way of that, especially when i'ts not a capital crime.

Cancer Kills

What makes cancer deadly? many factors do. For instance diet, genetics, and exposure to unhealthy things. pancreatic cancer is one that is especially dangerous.

Pancreatic cancer is often caught at a late stage and is dificult to treat, the reason it's caught late is because most people don't have symtoms like weight loss, abnormal pains and yellowing of the skin due to toxic build up in the liver before it's to late. The biggest factor in getting pancreatic cancer is smoking, also i'ts possible to get it genetically. only 5 to 10 percent of all people diagnosed in the late stage are considered for surgery and 85 percent of the time it comes back. Upshaw, a man with pancreatic cancer was rushed to the hospital by his wife due to trouble breathing, he was then diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that spread to his lungs and eventually killed him.

I personalay think that pancreatic cancer would be a very unfortunate condition to have and taking all the precautions to preventing pancreatic cancer i would suggest to take them. Most syptoms don't start showing until the last minute so a person wouldn't know until it was to late. don't take any chances and stay healthy.
